Latest Updates from Our Project:

New Game Box Art!
almost 3 years ago – Sat, May 29, 2021 at 08:24:08 AM

Hey friends, we hope everyone is having a great week so far!

As we communicate with our manufacturer and submit all final assets and measurements we wanted to share out our refreshed box cover art. We made a lot of significant style and color changes to match the game board and card art so it has a more consistent feel.

Since we are still working out the dimensions of the final VHS boxes that the game will be housed in, the cover art may change slightly. It'll be one sheet that will slide into the VHS case along with the spine and back design all on one sheet. We'll share that out once it's finalized.

We're getting close friends. Your patience means the world to us first-time board game designers. Just bare with us a little longer as we get a the pieces in place and navigate the wild world of manufacturing. It's an education for sure so far.

Stay tuned, more to come. Let us know what you think in the comments here!

Player Cards Sneak Peek
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Apr 24, 2021 at 02:44:29 AM

Happy Friday everyone, we hope you are staying safe and healthy out there.

We've been sending files (Cards, Board, 3D Game Pieces) to tour manufacturer as we get closer to finalizing a quote. There have been a few delays on their end but we are moving forward nicely now.

Currently we are sending over the Player Cards and we wanted to share a few things with you.

The above image is more of a layout shot (not final art) where you can see the placement of the tabs that will mark when you "Watch" and "Return" a VHS.

The below shots are the final art versions featuring our group of 4 players! Check em out.

We made sure the art style was consistent with the card and board art design and overall color palette. Which one do you want to play as?

And for anyone who played our prototype (thank you!), you will see a significant improvement. And the kids are now teens! Seemed more thematically appropriate and cool. Here's a look at our prototype design from way back when for a comparison.

I hope you like this new look. Finalizing how the tabs will function is a small challenge, but we are on track for them to be really cool and sturdy.

Let us know what you think while we are sorting out this quote with our manufacturer. We are excited to be getting close to the finish line here.

Game Board is Finished, Take a Look!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Mar 25, 2021 at 01:07:11 AM

Hey gamers! Over the weekend we put the finishing touches on our game board and wanted to share the final design with you all. For anyone that played our prototype this should be a huge improvement! Please let us know what you think in the comments below :)

We're currently working with our manufacturer to deliver all the necessary files in order to get a quote. As mentioned in previous updates, this is taking much longer than we would like. But the good news is, we're using any extra time to polish all our designs. So in a weird way, these delays have contributed to a much better game board and player cards. So at least theres' some long term value. Here's a reminder of our current timeline.

As always, thanks for being so very patient with us as we navigate the game design and manufacturing process for the first time :) You all are so great! We are getting much, much closer to getting this on the manufacturing line. Hope everyone is having a great week so far. More updates soon.

Manufacturing update and new timeline
about 3 years ago – Wed, Mar 03, 2021 at 01:45:28 PM

Hey gamers. We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there. I wanted to give y'all an update on our manufacturing progress and provide you with an estimated timeline to show you what things will look like from now until we ship :)

Working with our manufacturer has been a lot slower than we would have liked. As always, we appreciate you being patient with us as we push this forward. This is our very first game, and the first time we've went through the manufacturing process. We are learning A LOT about the process.

The good news is that we've spent this extra time polishing the game art and all the game components, especially the game board. The end result will be a much cooler looking game than what you see on the campaign page. We are sinking every penny we earned during the campaign into making the final product the best we possibly can. We'll have a game board update soon.

Below I drew up a rough timeline of where we are at with manufacturing. I'm being very transparent and hopeful here. It may take a little more time, or it may take less time. I'm just not 100% sure, but I will update everyone as we check things off this list.

Based on conversations with our manufacturer this week, this timeline reflects where we are at. It's a process, and taking longer than we would like, but it is moving forward with no big speed bumps so far other than delays outside of our control.

We will send updates whenever we check something off this list. We will also be sharing some fresh visual updates for game components soon. And keep in mind, we will be sending out BackerKit Surveys to all backers after we get a physical proof and finalize. This survey is where you will be able to update your address, add items to your order, and pay for shipping. You will have at least 3-4 weeks to complete that survey and I'll be actively sending reminder updates when we get to that step.

Stay tuned everybody, we're getting close. We will be renting and rumbling in 2021, get excited!

Progress Update & Be Kind Pins Are Here!
about 3 years ago – Mon, Jan 25, 2021 at 05:54:36 PM

Hope everyone is having a safe an healthy 2021 so far. After a much different holiday season and the USA election season in our rearview, we are looking forward to a new year and getting Rental Rumble in your hands!

As always, we appreciate your patience as we navigate these uncharted waters. So first, a few progress updates. As we previously shared, all our cards are done and ready for the printer. All the player pieces, VHS tokens, late fee tokens, and VHS return box are sculpted and ready for manufacturing as well. We're putting the finishing touches on our game board (it's awesome!), player cards, rule book, and the final box cover art now. I'll share one final look at those once they are done. Pretty much everything else is just packaging and components that we need to size to ensure it all fits snug in the VHS box.

Besides sharing the above, our #1 goal right now is communicating with our manufacturer and getting final designs and estimates. This is admittedly taking a lot longer than we would have liked due to the pandemic and the fact we are a super small print run compared to other folks so we are not as high on the priority list. It's moving forward, just a little slower than we would like.

I'm hoping in the next week or so to come up with new estimated/projected survey delivery dates and a new timeline. The survey will come from BackerKit and allow you to edit/update address and payment info, add more items to your cart, as well as getting shipping estimates.

The BackerKit Survey will also let you add items to your cart and make a custom bundle if you wanted items you didn't back during the Kickstarter campaign. We'll also have some sweet enamel pins available including the above "Be kind, please rewind" pin above! They came this week and look really great. Remember: if you backed Rental Rumble in the first 48 hours you will get one automatically included in your final order. They will also be available in the BackerKit survey so fear not :)

We're getting close folks, and we're really excited to get this game out into the world. We dearly miss attending conventions and seeing you all in person. But your patience and understanding during this very difficult time is what keeps us going. You are an amazing community that means a lot to us as we finish our first board game. It's only happening because of your support and we're forever grateful for that.

Stay tuned, as we have a few more updates just around the corner.
